STD

We don't provide services for sexually transmitted diseases.

OB/GYN

We don't provide services for obstetrics or gynecology. 

Emergency Care

We refer callers and patients to a clinic or hospital that can provide emergency care.

Mental health care beyond the scope of a primary care provider

Imaging such as x-ray,  ultra sound or MRI

The clinic manager can approve a referral to a facility that can provide this.

Specialty care such as podiatry or neurology

We don't provide specialty care such as podiatry or neurology, etc. We can refer you to specialists who have an agreement to treat FernCare patients

Transgender transition medications

We will provide primary care services to people in transition to make sure that medications interact positively.

Opiate or controlled substance prescriptions

Surgery including incisions and drainage

Dental Care

 

To use FernCare services, you must:

  • Be between 19 and 64 years of age
  • Come to the clinic to pick up the registration packet and meet with the health insurance enrollment counselor
  • Make an appointment for an in-clinic visit
  • Provide a photo ID for age verification
  • Not have medical insurance or a primary care provider
  • Sign a patient contract and fill out health history and information forms
  • Meet with an insurance enrollment volunteer at the initial visit


All calls are returned within 24 hours Monday through Friday. Weekend calls are returned on Monday. See the Resource page for a list of other free clinics in the area.

All of the medical staff who volunteer at the clinic are licensed or certified as required by the State of Michigan

Patients are seen by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. We do the lab work here and results are available in 3 to 6 days.

The clinic dispenses generic medications. We can help you enroll in a prescription assistance program for medications we do not carry. We can also look up prescription costs at local pharmacies.

  • EVENING CLINICS: Wednesdays & Thursdays - 6:00 pm – approximately 8:30 pm
